The Five Elements That Will Make Or Break Your Business

The Five Elements That Will Make Or Break Your Business
BACK TO Insights

INTENT: is our Diagnostic Organisational Performance Tool.

As well as sharing the 5 founding elements that make it up, and ultimately, that will make or break your business, I wanted to offer a little insight as to how and why INTENT: came into being.

Why? Because a lot of you have asked.

It’s about approaching your cultural and people development strategy - beyond that - your business’s whole philosophy of being and doing with INTENT: as opposed to it being an afterthought - something to invest in if there happens to be a bit of budget left over.

(Read or watch - your choice!)

Your people have to be put front and centre of your business strategy.

After all, businesses are people, for people and it’s your people that will power your success.

All the data out there shows that there is a direct correlation between engagement levels  (which we’ll break down further below) and your business’s performance.

Not engaged workers account for $8.8 trillion globally in lost productivity. It’s a lot.

People. INTENT: FROM:TODAY

How we sharpened our INTENT:

For years, we’ve been trying to distil and bring together what we feel are the foundational elements to productivity -  high performance - your success.

For years, we’ve had a load of thoughts, concepts, ideas, convictions and uncertainties swimming around in relation to just this.

So, INTENT: is the culmination of all that work and research out in the field (and up at night thinking, rethinking, overthinking, scribbling notes, chucking them away, scrabbling around for them again next morning etc etc.)

We’re very excited to share it with you.

So, here it is:

5 founding elements to safeguard and super-charge your success:

  1. AUTHENTICITY: The extent to which people feel safe, supported and inclined to show up as their whole selves (satisfying the human need for safety).

  2. CARE: The extent to which people truly connect to their work and the people around them (satisfying the human need for connection).

  3. EMPOWERMENT: The extent to which people feel supported to think, feel and speak up freely, and have agency to act (satisfying the human need for learning & growth).

  4. PRESENCE: The extent to which people are afforded time and space to dedicate all of their attention to the here and now (determining the quality of “being”).

  5. PURPOSE: The extent to which your organisation has shared meaning and direction (determining the quality of “doing”).

We ask 25 key questions to critically assess how your organisation is doing with each of these elements.

You can assess your business or team, for free, by clicking here.

Picture this:

An organisation where people don't really show up, leaving the best of themselves at home and going through the motions.

Where people don't REALLY care and even if they did, don't have a platform to speak up and contribute.

Standards stagnate and eventually wane.

Where the threat of burnout is constant, leaving no space for collective re-thinking, creativity and continued development.

Where there’s a complete lack of bigger picture purpose and direction.

All of a sudden, you’re not performing, you’re losing talent, you’re losing ground to your competitors and you’re getting left behind.

This isn’t an extreme. This isn’t a fantasy. Sadly, it’s the norm - and it’s born out by the engagement data out there.

It doesn’t happen overnight but continued neglect of your organisation’s 5 founding elements WILL affect the bottom line - and sooner than you think.

INTENT: will raise the awareness right now to ensure this doesn’t happen. It’s also unique in cutting to the core of your challenges quickly and incisively.

SO:

Take 5 minutes to show your INTENT: right now.

Once you’re done, we’ll be in touch to discuss your results.

Every week, we’ll endeavour to deconstruct the current business themes and show how INTENT: and its founding elements can be applied in your world with tangible impact.

As always, we can’t wait to hear from you.
